Crawl Space Encapsulation in Stallings, NC

Stallings grew from 3,189 residents in 2000 to 16,112 in 2020, and the homes it added share one thing with the older ones: a crawl space that has to stand up to Carolina humidity and rain. Revamp inspects, lines, and seals them. Based in Monroe. Water down there now? Call 980-259-4548. A real person answers 24/7.

A Farm And Railroad Community That Became A Town

Stallings was a farming and trading community around a railroad depot. A highway, incorporation in 1975, and a large annexation in 2001 turned it into a town of more than 16,000.

What Puts Moisture In A Stallings Crawl Space

Three things shape what happens under a Stallings house: the heat, the rain, and where the water goes.

Hot, humid summers

Stallings is part of the Charlotte metro area and shares its humid subtropical climate. Charlotte’s normal July high is 90.3°F, and hot, humid days can arrive as early as May and last until the end of September.

Rain through the year

Charlotte averages about 43.6 inches of precipitation a year, spread evenly across the seasons. Water that is not carried away from the foundation by gutters, downspouts, and grading can end up in the crawl space.

Creek country

Most of Stallings drains east to Crooked Creek and the Rocky River, and its southwest end drains to Twelvemile Creek. Where water runs on your lot depends on its slope, so we look at the ground around the house, the gutters, and the downspouts at the inspection.

Climate figures are for Charlotte, whose metro area includes Stallings. Drainage details are from the Stallings article on Wikipedia.

Warning signs

Red Flags Worth A Look

You do not have to crawl under the house to spot a problem. Two or more of these is a good reason to have the crawl space inspected.

Musty or damp smell in the house, worse in summer
Insulation sagging, wet, or falling from the floor above
Condensation or sweating on ductwork and pipes
Standing water or damp soil after rain
Floors that feel soft, cupped, or buckled
Dark, soft, or stained wood in the crawl space
Pests, or signs they have moved in
Higher cooling bills than you expect
Cold or uneven floors above the crawl space
A home inspection report that flagged the crawl space
What you get

What a Crawl Space Encapsulation Includes

The exact scope is set at your inspection, but a typical project works through these six parts. Tap one to read more.

01Inspection and moisture assessment

We look at soil, standing water, humidity, ductwork, plumbing, insulation, framing, vents, and access, and check the outside for gutter, downspout, and grading problems.

02Ground liner

A heavy-duty liner goes over prepared soil across the crawl space floor to block ground moisture.

03Wall liner

The liner runs up the foundation walls so the whole space, not just the floor, is covered.

04Sealed seams, piers, and penetrations

Seams are sealed and the liner is fitted around piers and penetrations so the barrier works as one system.

05Vents and access sealed

Foundation vents are closed off and the access is sealed so humid outdoor air is no longer pulled through the space.

06Moisture control that fits the home

A dehumidifier or another approved method keeps the air in the space dry. The right choice depends on the home.

Questions

Stallings Crawl Space FAQs

Pick a topic. Do not see your question? Call 980-259-4548.

How much does crawl space encapsulation cost in Stallings?

It depends on the size of the crawl space, how much of the floor and walls need lining, whether there is standing water or damp soil, what drainage work is needed, and which moisture-control method fits the home. We do not quote a flat price over the phone. Revamp inspects the crawl space and gives you an estimate before any work is approved.

Does Revamp work in Stallings?

Yes. Revamp is based in Monroe and takes crawl space jobs in Stallings, including the part of the town that lies in Mecklenburg County. Stallings is bordered by Matthews, Indian Trail, and Hemby Bridge. If you are a little outside Stallings, call anyway and we will tell you what is possible.

I am buying or selling in Stallings and the inspection flagged the crawl space. Can you help?

Yes. Inspection reports commonly note damp soil, wet or fallen insulation, a missing or damaged ground cover, or standing water. Send us the report with your request and we will look at the crawl space items and scope them for you.

Will encapsulation help with humidity and a musty smell?

A sealed, controlled crawl space is designed to keep outdoor humidity and ground moisture from reaching the air under your house, and that is often what drives a musty smell. The Charlotte area has hot, humid summers, and humid days can start as early as May and last into September. Results depend on the condition of the home and the source of the odor, so we do not promise a specific humidity number or a guaranteed outcome.

Will encapsulation stop water from coming into my crawl space?

Not by itself. Encapsulation controls humidity and ground moisture, but it is not a drainage system. If water is reaching the crawl space, the fix may start with gutters and downspouts, grading, drainage, or water removal, and then the liner work. We look at where the water is coming from during the inspection so the plan fits what is really happening.

What is the difference between a vapor barrier and encapsulation?

A vapor barrier is a liner over the ground. Encapsulation is a complete system: the ground liner plus wall liner, sealed seams, piers, and penetrations, closed-off vents, and a way to keep the air in the space dry. If you only need a ground liner installed or replaced, tell us when you call and we will scope that instead.

Does encapsulation remove mold?

Encapsulation controls the moisture that mold needs, but it does not remove mold that is already growing. Mold testing and mold remediation are outside what Revamp provides for this service. If you suspect mold, a qualified mold professional should evaluate it, and we can coordinate the moisture-control work around that.

Can an older Stallings home's crawl space be encapsulated?

Often, yes, but older homes call for a careful inspection first. Stallings has been a community for over a century, with a railroad depot built in 1910, and older crawl spaces commonly have older plumbing, ductwork, and wiring and sometimes tight access. We look at what is actually there and scope the work around it instead of using a one-size-fits-all package.
